The State of the Grid

December 15, 2017 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

As the year comes to a close, it is an appropriate time for supporters of consumer empowerment, energy affordability, and climate action to take stock of our activities during the year passed and begin planning for action in the year ahead.

The State of the Grid” is a network meeting that will review our advocacy at the Public Service Commission during PC-44, and look ahead to the last months of the proceeding. What have we achieved so far? How can we be most effective in the time remaining for this proceeding?

*** Agenda will include a review of MEDA’s PC-44 advocacy, as well as specific organizing to equitably distribute the benefits of electrified transportation to underserved or disadvantaged communities ***

  • Public Conference 44 (PC44)is the Maryland Public Service Commission’s grid modernization proceeding, a series of stakeholder meetings to consider upgrades to the current electric distribution system and associated regulations.
  • As per the notice of the proceeding, this public conference aimed to ensure a “customer-centered, affordable, reliable, and environmentally-friendly” electricity system in our state.
  • We must maintain our advocacy, and push the Commission to leverage advanced technologies to empower consumers; ensure equitable and affordable access to the clean energy economy; harness the state’s bountiful renewable energy sources, and align the interests of the utilities with goals in the public interest.
